Equipment

  • 2 9-inch cake pans
  • 1 small saucepan
  • 1 large bowl
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 spoon or spatula
  • 1 sifter (optional)

Ingredients
  

  • 1 box devil's food cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 12 oz bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Set oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Clean, flour, and grease two 9-inch cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, mix together cake mix, water, oil, and eggs. Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Pour batter into prepared pans, and bake for 28 minutes.
  • Remove from oven, and let cool for 10 minutes.
  • In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream over low heat. Add butter, and stir until melted.
  • Pour ganache over cooled cake, and spread evenly. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
