Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb. shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup grits
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup green onions diced
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a large pot, bring water to a boil and cook the grits according to package instructions.

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook until opaque, about 3 minutes.
  • Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Slowly add the chicken broth, whisking until smooth.
  • Add the onions, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Serve the shrimp mixture over the cooked grits.
